We
aid with the development of grass roots campaigns -
using local ingenuity and resources to accomplish a
very specific goal.

A few things to know before we get started...
1.
We are just a small organization trying to make a difference.
2.
We
only work where we can involve members of the local community
so they can sustain the program when we leave.
3.
We only fly coach, stay in cheap hotels, and always overtip
our
servers.
4.
Sometimes we sound like pageant contestants (or like we're
on a first date) when talking about the world - all full
of world peace, sunsets, puppies, and how much we love
Thai food. Global
Colors was founded by one man who thought it would be
better to go out and try to make a difference, rather
than complain about things that weren't being done. Since
then, we have established our reputation by cutting through
red tape and bureaucracy - while connecting volunteers
and corporations to international aid projects.
From
a decision made in the jungles of Cambodia - to taking
calls from the White House, speaking on behalf of refugees
at the United Nations, and working with groups around
the world - Global Colors continues to grow and make personal
differences around the world.
We
focus our efforts on locally run NGO's that already understand
every aspect of their communities needs. We learn about
the issues they face and how THEY are trying to solve
them, and then we create a plan to help them accomplish
their goals. Through this collaboration, we raise awareness
and resources to support their interests, with the outcome
resulting in more sophisticated local networks and sustainable
aid projects.
We
have also found that bringing local individuals in to
develop a project, creates more ownership towards it in
the long run, and in turn, they work harder to sustain
it in the coming years. We believe it is essential that
they feel empowered to better their own lives, rather
than just receive a handout.
Whether
it is an orphanage, school, clinic, or group that we find
we can help with, we look for stories such as Phil
and Kanchana Thornton in Thailand, or Emmanuel
Tasur in Kenya. These individuals make an
impact by serving those around them –and we may be able
to provide that little extra push. Our projects are geared
towards helping individuals become self sufficient, and
range from poverty, AIDS/disease, human rights, education,
and the environment.
