Just outside Cancun, Mexico there is a small orphanage called "Casa Hogar Esperanza". This "House of Hope and Faith" is run by Asencio and Esther Mancilla who started this home nearly 20 years ago when someone left an infant on their doorstep.

Their home will always house somewhere between 20 and 50 children, and they are funded only by the generosity of their church group and local good samaritans. They recieve no funding from the government, and taking care of these children every day can be quite a struggle and strain on them.

They would like to convert some rooms in their home for education - a sewing room, a computer room, and a music room but have no money to do so.

While in Mexico on vacation, a group of friends contacted Global Colors to see if we knew anything they could do while they were there. We came across this orphanage, sent them toys we had donated from Gund Inc., and asked them to provide a small donation for Esther and Ascencio when they went to visit.

Although their donation was small, it brought smiles to the children that day and was the perfect example of just trying to make a difference where ever you are.
