The weight of the packs they carry can be up to 70 lbs. - close to the weight of some of the women - and they do it all for about $2.

Development in Gardening

Development in GardeningWe partnered with an amazing organization, Development in Gardening (DIG), to create vegetable gardens next to hospitals in Africa. We worked at Hospital Fann in Dakar, Senegal, and created something so unique it brought First Lady Laura Bush to visit.

UCLA at Angkor Thom

UCLA at Angkor ThomWhile in Cambodia in 2005, we met a group of children being taken care of by the monks near Temple Bayon in Angkor Thom just north of Siem Reap, and they eventually became the inspiration to start Global Colors. It was only fitting that our first project was to go back and thank them.

CAA Envirotrade

Barton Brooks  Founder and President

Barton_Brooks.jpgBarton founded GLOBAL COLORS after spending the greater part of a decade living and traveling around the world - wanting to build an organization that focused on creating grassroots aid based on the skills of those who need the help. He has led projects on five (soon to be seven) continents, created the GC Sponsorship Program, and founded the My World Wish Campaign - all of which have developed his "Guerrilla Aid" style of volunteerism.Global Colors is the representation of his dream - creating a way to empower individuals and organizations to become personally responsible and emotionally invested in our global family. He believes strongly in the approach of "just go in and get something done" to solve problems around the world, as too much aid gets lost in bureaucracy and behind red tape.

Barton has studied everything from history to theology in universities on a global stage - while his U.S. professional background is based in real estate, the fashion industry, and television production.

"If someone is supposed to change the world, why shouldn't it be me?"
