Loscarasucias Children's Home

Loscarasucias Children's HomeGlobal Colors board member Joy Haynes went to Argentina and while there decided to do a little Guerrilla Aid.   In a short amount of time she met every immediate need of a children's home outside of Buenos Aires.

Women Fuelwood Carriers

Women Fuelwood CarriersJust outside of Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, there are women who hike roughly 18 miles a day collecting wood to be sold in the market. The weight of the packs they carry can be up to 70 lbs. - close to the weight of some of the women - and they do it all for about $2.

Development in Gardening

Development in GardeningWe partnered with an amazing organization, Development in Gardening (DIG), to create vegetable gardens next to hospitals in Africa. We worked at Hospital Fann in Dakar, Senegal, and created something so unique it brought First Lady Laura Bush to visit.

Cows for the Massai

Cows for the Massai After the September 11 attacks, the very poor people of the Maasai banded together and raised enough money to buy fourteen cows - their most prized possession -to give as a gift to America to help us heal.We decided to go over and thank them by repaying the gesture...

UCLA at Angkor Thom

UCLA at Angkor ThomWhile in Cambodia in 2005, we met a group of children being taken care of by the monks near Temple Bayon in Angkor Thom just north of Siem Reap, and they eventually became the inspiration to start Global Colors. It was only fitting that our first project was to go back and thank them.

CAA Envirotrade

CAA EnvirotradeCreative Artists Agency (CAA) selected Global Colors to launch their International Volunteer Vacation Program, having us take CAA employees to Mozambique and South Africa for a reforestation and outreach project.

Jeff Scott

Jeff Scott We were contacted by the friends and family of Jeff Scott to see if we could do any sort of project in his memory, and so we set out to get to know the man Jeff had become, and create a project work in his honor.

Bonfil Orphanage

Bonfil OrphanageJust outside Cancun, Mexico, there is a small orphanage called "Casa Hogar Esperanza".  This "House of Hope and Faith" is run by Asencio and Esther Mancilla who started this home nearly 20 years ago when someone left an infant on their doorstep.

Back to School

Back to SchoolInspired by Jeff Scott, our Cambodian Back to school program was able to expand to become a resounding success. 120 children are now in school, families are becoming self-sustaining, and we were lucky enough to facilitate it.

Jeff Scott
We were contacted by the friends and family of Jeff Scott to see if we could do any sort of project in his memory, and so we set out to get to know the man Jeff had become, and work in his honor. His friends and family were very generous, and invited us to come and celebrate Jeff's life with them, and then take his memory to the places he loved around the world.

JeffScott.jpgI have to say that by being introduced to Jeff's life of surfing, photography, friends, and family - my life has been completely changed for the better. I had never been to a paddle-out, nor did I know any member of Jeff's family or inner circle other than Adrian Chang. I am overwhelmingly grateful that I was allowed to be part of their services, and count myself lucky to have come in contact with you all - to celebrate the life of a man who was undoubtedly loved - and an inspiration to all he came in contact with.I even bought my first surfboard, and every time I get in the water, I thank Jeff for the gifts he has brought into my life.

From my experience, you can learn a great deal about people by the company they keep, and through his friends and family I've learned a great deal about Jeff. The dedication and love that has been displayed has been an inspiration, and the love shown to Jeff is still clearly felt to this day.

Thank you all for allowing me to learn about Jeff - I'm honored that we have been able to be the ones to keep his memory alive in our work in Southeast Asia.

Much love to you all,

Barton Brooks

THE PROJECT

With contributions from Jeff's friends and family, we started a family and education program in Cambodia. We have been working with a small NGO in Cambodia, and since beginning the project for Jeff, we have made the call to our friends and families to help it grow, and it has... tremendously...

We now have many families with jobs and support, and just put 120 children in school for their first time. You can read the full account of what the project has become by clicking here...

This page will also be a place to share your thoughts about Jeff...

Jeff.jpg
Jeff's life embodied the spirit of Global Colors by his exploration of the world and connecting with people on a personal level everywhere he went.

Jeff was truly a free spirit. A beautiful, precious and gentle soul. He stole the heart of everyone who was fortunate enough to encounter him.

Jeff had a passion for water and a lust for life. Surfing was his joy and photography was his god given talent. Jeff travele the world to remote locations in search of tranquility. In the interim, captures the hearts, faces, and places with a genuine story to be told through the eye of his lens.

Jeff cared about everything within the world and felt everyone's world within. He treated all with kindness. Speaking to anyone who caught his eye, he left a lasting impression... man, woman, and child. he could make you laugh while you were crying. He is still alive in our hearts, our minds and our words.

Now he is with us always.

When you feel the wind blow on any beach know that it is Jeff searching for the perfect wave... the sun on your face - a hug from Jeff...   and the rain - a kiss from him.

He has touched our hearts forever, never to be forgotten or lost in the span of thought that rise above us.

We love you forever.

A Gallery of Jeff's Photography is coming soon!
